15-year-old Anahat Singh makes history as youngest Senior National Squash Champion in 23 years

Young Prodigy Anahat Singh shatters records, clinches Senior National Squash Championship title at 15

In a remarkable feat, 15-year-old Anahat Singh secured the women's title at the Senior National Squash Championships, etching her name as the youngest champion in 23 years. Facing opponent Tanvi Khanna, Anahat overcame a setback in the opener but took charge in the second game, leading 6-4. Unfortunately, Khanna had to retire due to a knee injury, solidifying Anahat's historic victory.

Teen prodigy's journey:

Anahat Singh, at 14, became the youngest Indian athlete at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and continued to make waves. Last year, she faced Joshna Chinappa in the National Championship final, and this victory marked her second appearance at the prestigious tournament. Her achievements extended to the 2023 Asian Games, where she contributed to India's women's team bronze and secured a mixed doubles bronze alongside Abhay Singh.

Notably, Joshna Chinappa holds the record for being the youngest Indian squash champion, achieving the feat at the age of 14 in 2000. Meanwhile, in the men's National Championship final, Abhay Singh faced a tough competition but ultimately fell to Velavan Senthilkumar with a score of 10-12, 3-11, 10-12. Anahat Singh's achievements at such a young age promise a bright future for Indian squash.
